The first vigil of the evening was in room 27. This is a room at the top of the hotel with one wall appearing to be part of the roof. Almost like an attic room with one window overlooking the street below.
Alex begins the session by asking any spirits present, other than those physically in the room, to make their presence known. Almost immediately Christine feels something playing with the back of her hair and feels a tingling sensation on her head.
Joanne feels the presence of an old lady. The lady showed Joanne that she had tightness in her chest. Joanne says she is feeling quite dizzy and it is difficult to breath. She is given the name Mary, who told Joanne she worked at the hotel.
Billy picks up on the spirit of a man giving his name as Stephen Preece. The date is 1913. Stephen is visiting Coupar Angus for a few days. He tells Billy that he is a butcher from England.

Joanne sees her lady as quite a plump lady. The lady is rushing around getting things done, sort of like a "housekeeper type person" she tells Joanne.
Billy is picking up on the butcher again. He is here for a week but not on holiday.
Joanne sees the housekeeper type lady as being in her 60s.
Billy says Stephen is in Coupar Angus with his wife for the funeral of his father in law. His wife has long black hair which goes midway down her back. Billy asks if there is or was a Cooper Street in Coupar Angus.
Joanne says this housekeeper lady is from the quite recent past. She is wearing a flowery dress. The period was definitely in the 1900s.

Billy asks if Joanne is picking up another medical condition which the lady has. Joanne picks up angina or heartburn type pains and a problem with her left hip or leg. Billy is picking up the lady has Chrones disease. Minnie also picks up Stephen is here for the funeral of a relation of Stephen's wife.
Christine feels a pain in her neck. She says it is almost as if her neck is being twisted. Christine also feels her head is round the wrong way. Joanne feels the same way.
Jim is picking up the name Sheila. Billy picks up the name Chrissie. The surname Paterson is also quite strong and is sensed by several team members at the same time. Jim, Billy, Joanne, Christine and Minnie all pick up this surname. Billy confirms the man’s name is Stephen Preece and his wife’s name is Chrissie.

Errol smells the aroma of flowers. Alex says it is like the scent they picked up on an earlier invest at another location. Joanne confirms she saw the spirit of a lady standing at the door just where Errol is sensing the aroma. The spirit was holding the hand of another person but Joanne could not make out who at this stage.
Jim now asks spirit if they would be kind enough to talk into his voice recorder. Alex and Errol are seeing the spirit of a small girl standing in front of them at the room door. This is confirmed by Billy and Joanne.
Joanne is seeing someone sitting in a chair in the corner of the room. Christine is seeing a young girl in an old fashioned maids uniform age early 20s. Minnie describes the man she is seeing as tall and thin with a quite bald head. He is in his 30s? Minnie now sees a white light go across the room between Billy and Jim.

Christine is picking up on the spirit of a young girl with curly blond hair who is turning round all the time.
Billy, Errol and Alex move into the bathroom. Between the bathroom and the bedroom, Billy picks up on the spirit of a man and his young daughter. They are showing Billy that they are standing outside the hotel just below the room we are in.
The man tells Billy they were on their way to a birthday party in 1972 when they were knocked down by a car and killed. The young girl died due to internal bleeding and the man died of internal bleeding and severe head injuries.
Billy sees ambulance men running around and describes their uniform. Billy is picking up the young girls name as Lisa, but she was christened Elisa or Eloise? She has brown gingery hair, shoulder length and curly. She is wearing a lovely pink dress. She tells Billy her dad passed first and she passed ten hours later. Errol is getting pulled towards the car park.

Meanwhile back in the bedroom,

Jim gets his head touched by some unseen presence. Jim also sees an expanding aura around Minnie. THE AURA IS GROWING, which usually indicates Minnie is seeing or hearing spirit. Christine is feeling sick and is getting the top of her head touched.
Minnie is sensing the presence of a spirit. Names of Catherine and Peter are picked up by Minnie and Christine. Christine is getting the impression of a maid who is pregnant. Unknown to Christine, this detail fits exactly with the earlier feeling of having her neck "round the wrong way". A maid called Emily, who was pregnant, did in fact hang herself in the hotel. This was not long after Queen Victoria stayed at the hotel.
Tracey confirms she saw a silhouette in the corner where Joanne saw the spirit of a young girl sitting in a chair watching us. Jim is picking up an aura in this area. Billy sees an outline.
Billy suddenly picks up on the car which hit the father and daughter. It was a maroon coloured Ford Anglia. The driver was an elderly man. His wife was with him in the car as a passenger.

Jim is seeing the spirit of a young girl aged four or five standing between Joanne and the bed. Jim and Joanne confirm the girl has blond hair. The right leg of Joanne is now freezing. Minnie comes over and picks up on the energy. Joanne and Minnie agree the girl is very shy. Minnie also sees the girl is holding on to Joanne's leg. Joanne picks up the girls name as Emm, Emma or Emily or something like a drawn-out Emmm sound. Christine says it is Emily.
Minnie and Joanne picks up that Emma is here on her own. Her mum is not around. Joanne also feels Emma is here accidentally. On earlier visits to the hotel, various mediums have picked up on the presence of Emma. She is a frequent visitor and usually has another young boy and girl with her. Minnie picked up the name Joy. Could this be the young girl who usually accompanies Emma?
Emma does not know where her mother is. Jim asks Emma if anyone is with her. Emma points to the door of the room. Joanne sees the spirit of two ladies standing just outside the door. Emma is also indicating the presence of a spirit in the corner behind Jim.
Joanne, Jim, Minnie and Wilma all see Emma as about four years old. Jim asks Emma how long she has been here. Emma says she does not know how long she has been here.

Jim asks if Joanne can get the ladies names. Joanne gets one name of Martha. Minnie feels Emma's mother died giving birth to a child. Minnie also feels the child did not die. Joanne feels she was "brought" here by two ladies while in the physical and it is the same two ladies who are looking after her now. Emma suddenly tells Joanne that she has to go, and just goes.
The presence is still in the corner of the room just watching us. Spirit is making no attempt to communicate with anyone in the team. There is suddenly a very strong smell of pipe tobacco going around the room. The smell is stronger in one area of the room than any other. The smell lingers for a few seconds then disappears.
In the corner of the room an old lady is sensed by Jim, Joanne and Tracey. The lady is sitting in a chair and keeps leaning forward, being angry at the team’s presence. Jim sees the shape of the lady as an aura, but just as an outline. Joanne and Tracey also sense the aura.

Jim asks the lady if she can prove to the team that she is in fact present. Joanne immediately picks up that the lady is saying "why should I". The outline aura continued to grow stronger and Minnie begins to sense it too.
No further interaction with this lady was possible other than she wanted us to leave the room. Joanne senses that the lady keeps leaning forward in her chair and is telling us to go.
Billy enters the room again and is also able to sense the old lady. She gradually fades from the room and no other contact was made with her. The team finished this vigil and retired to the base room for a break.

The team move in to room 21.

Room 21 is ostensibly a bedroom with two single beds, a wardrobe and a lot of clutter from other parts of the hotel crammed in.
Jim starts the vigil by asking any spirit present to talk into his voice recorder. There is a rattling noise at the left hand side of Joanne. Billy is hearing ballroom type music and sees the spirit of a man and his wife dancing just in front of Wilma.
Jim is seeing the room as a type of lounge or sitting room.
Billy gets the surname Kimberley. The Kimberley's are enjoying themselves, just dancing around a small area of the room. Billy says it is old type dancing, but couldn’t name the actual dance.
Minnie and Tracey sense a vibration and movement in the right hand corner of the room. They are sitting on one of the beds close by to a wardrobe. Billy is feeling a sense of depression in the room.

Alex hears whispering in the room and asks who was speaking. Christine speaks up and says she is picking up the year 1942. Minnie is picking up the mid 1930's.
Billy says that there is a spirit in the corridor. Tracey and Minnie are feeling a presence in the same corner as before. They both feel that some wicker baskets stored on top of the wardrobe were going to be pushed off.
Christine is seeing an old man in the bed. He has a skeletal face and his skin was really taught. Joanne sees he died of old age and had something to do with the armed forces. She goes on to describe the uniform the man is showing her. It is khaki in colour and she keeps feeling he was something to do with the Navy. She says she is getting really cold.
Paul is sensing that the man’s death was really drawn out. Billy says the man died of a heart attack in the end.

Tracey and Minnie are feeling stronger vibrations coming from the wardrobe.
Christine feels there was something wrong with the man’s right arm as her right arm is numb. Billy again says the man died of a heart attack in the end, which might explain the numb feeling.
Paul feels this wasn't always a bedroom. He is sensing this was made into a bedroom as the man’s illness got worse which may explain the happy times mixed with negative feelings.
Billy and Jim "see" a fireplace on the far wall of the room. Alex asks if anyone is seeing something in this room which should not be there. Joanne says the wall to her left should not be there and it should be a corridor. There was a corridor there at one time in the past.

Minnie and Tracey are still feeling cold in the corner nearest them. The temperature in the corner is 15 degrees centigrade, compared with an average room temperature of 24 degrees centigrade. Joanne sees the man lying in a bed where Minnie and Tracey are sitting.
Jim is seeing part of the room decorated in a flock deep red, patterned type of wall-covering. This covering is on the wall around the fireplace. Billy and Jim both describe the fireplace as plain. Jim and Billy agree that the fireplace is not much more than a hole in the wall. Jim also sees candle holders at either side of the fireplace about head height and a mirror in the centre above the fireplace. Billy is seeing a picture above the fireplace. Christine picks up on the candle holders as "sticking out" and brass.
Christine also sees the rest of the room decorated in embossed paper with a pattern through it. The paper is gold-ish coloured. Christine is seeing the room by "firelight" and can smell the fire burning.

Our old friend Emily (report from Royal Hotel - The Return) is trying to come through Billy again. Billy is not allowing her to come through. He is overcome with emotion from the depressing feelings coming from this room and he decides to leave the room and walk in the corridor outside to keep Emily out of the room. Alex leaves the room to check on Billy.
Jim takes over the vigil and asks each member of the team what they are feeling. Joanne says that she is seeing the man as some sort of pilot but is also getting a strong feeling of a navy connection.
Tracey and Minnie continue to feel uneasy in the corner of the room. Paul is feeling a depression. Wilma complains of a sore stomach. Billy and Alex re-enter the room and Billy picks up on a spirit with the surname Stuart or Stewart. Billy thinks he was a landlord here at some stage around about the First World War. Billy also sees the spirit of a nurse in the room standing behind David. She is not very tall and is working very hard.

Joanne, who is pacing up and down part of the room, picks up on a suicide. She is seeing a male in his early twenties. Joanne senses there was something strange about the man’s teeth and "feels" a funny tummy.
Billy is seeing the hotel as a sort of refuge for the war wounded. Injured soldiers were brought here to recuperate during the wars. Billy sees the place is very short staffed. The nurse has five patients who need constant attention and is asking for help. Nobody is coming to help her. She feels that even though she needs to go and find help urgently, if she leaves her patient will die.
Some unseen presence lifts Joanne's top up at the back.
Jim is seeing someone sitting behind Minnie.

Billy is seeing one of the patients has lost both legs and also sees a Spanish nurse helping another lady. She is walking out of the building. The nurse Billy first picked up on is now sitting "in a heap" in the corner crying. She tells Billy she just can't take anymore.
Joanne is sensing an American with a broken lower jaw. Tracey feels as if her jaw has "sunk" and is quite painful. Tracey is feeling her face is all twisted with terrible facial injuries.
Paul is sensing something happened here which should not have. Paul also senses a suicide. Paul is also feeling of tightness in his stomach. Billy says the nurse died in this room. She just gave up. Everything just became too much for her. Jim is seeing an injection. He is seeing someone injecting themselves. Jim states that it was Morphine, a lethal dose. The nurse had taken as much as she could and has committed suicide.
Christine is feeling sick and is finding it hard to swallow as well. Alex asks spirit to move something in the room. Some unseen presence is pushing Christine forward. Billy again sees someone at the back of David.

Alex asks spirit to knock on the wall or the ceiling. After a pause, Jim asks spirit to touch someone on the face. Wilma nearly jumps out of her skin as some unseen presence strokes the side of her face. David who was standing behind Wilma almost drops the video cam in shock. There is a presence of a child sensed by Billy and Alex beside Ian. The top of Ian’s head is sweating and there is a hot spot sensed by Alex beside Ian. It is the spirit of a young boy. He will not give Billy his name. BillyD sees a spirit going across the centre of the room. Paul feels a breeze go past him at the same time.
Sean is reporting tightness in his chest, which moves around to his back, and has been there for about 15 minutes. Sean says the feeling was really intense to start with but it is now easing off although it is still hard to breathe.

Billy sees the young boy kneeling at the bottom of a bed saying his prayers. The boy’s mum passed on and he is the grandson of the old couple. He is six years old. The boy is extremely sad as he misses his mum. He is here in visitation and every time he comes here he cries. Billy is once again overcome with emotion and has to leave the room.
Alex leaves the room to check on Billy. Joanne is reporting feeling really sick and is very cold down her left hand side. Wilma is reporting stomach cramps. Jim is seeing a presence beside BillyD.
Wilma is feeling very agitated and leaves the room. Sean is feeling sick and also leaves the room. BillyD is feeling pain in his right calf. Minnie is feeling extreme cold down her left side. Tracey is feeling the same. Kristy is also feeling the cold down her left side.
Christine sees a shadowy figure to the left of BillyD's head. The same is picked up by Jim who is seeing the figure between BillyD's head and shoulder. BillyD gets the name Sandra. No feeling as to who she is or how old she is. Perhaps she just came in to say hi.
As we have gone over the allotted time and nothing much was happening, Ian calls a halt to the vigil.

Function Room Séance

After the break, the team have a discussion and it is decided to hold a séance in the Function Room. Alex would not normally allow séances to be used at investigations, but with the large number of experienced mediums present, he feels it is safe to allow it on this occasion.
The function room is at the back of the hotel and consists of a small bar, seating around the outside of a dance floor and a small stage for the DJ or group to play on. Tables were set up on the dance floor in the middle of the room.
Kristy, Christine, Billy and Alex stay out of the circle just in case anything goes wrong. Alex also films the experiment. Jim has set up a video-cam on a tripod at the end of the function room looking directly at the séance tables.
Billy starts the séance. He then asks spirit to communicate in any way they can. Alex is seeing energy by Billy's left shoulder. Billy has already sensed the energy there and asks spirit to give a sign of their presence to the group. Jim then asks spirit to communicate in any way it can. There is the sound of a baby crying. One cry only.

Alex sees energy above Jims head. Two lights go across the table from Jim, who is seated at the end of the table, towards Wilma, who is seated at the other end of the table. Tracey gets a tingly feeling on the top of her head.
Through the camera viewfinder, Alex sees Tracey is appearing to be sitting right in a mass of energy. BillyD sees an angry face between Tracey and Billy. Joanne's face appears to be changing. It is now a very thin, long face with clear smooth skin. The hair goes right down Joanne's back. Billy asks spirit to knock on the table if it wants us to leave. No response. He then asks spirit to knock on the table if it wants us to stay. Alex is now seeing a halo above Jims head. Alex sees someone standing behind Billy's right shoulder. The spirit is trying to whisper in Billy's ear. BillyD sees someone standing in the part open doorway at the far left hand corner of the room. Minnie feels her fingers moving. She says it is like the table is moving under her fingers.
Alex sees a presence sitting between Kristy and Christine. Christine's knees are shaking. It is like the floor is vibrating. Alex asks Tracey if someone is touching her face. Tracey answers no.

 

Through the camera viewfinder someone is definitely seen touching Tracey's face. Video footage is being analysed as this report is written. Jim asks Billy if he can still see the presence between him and Minnie. Billy confirms the presence has moved to just above Jim’s right shoulder. Billy once again asks the spirit to knock on the table or to give some proof that they exist. Alex sees an orb just pass Minnie’s face. The face which transposed itself onto Joanne's face has now gone. Alex feels a presence behind him. BillyD confirms there is a shadow coming from under the room door. Alex opens the door but there is nobody there.
Paul now says there has been someone standing in the part open doorway at the top of the room near the stage for the past ten minutes. Billy decides to go round the group and have everyone ask for spirit to do something. Jim starts this process. He asks spirit to touch someone in the circle. No response at this time.

Billy asks the spirit of Emily to do something. Something touches the bottom of the right leg of Billy. Billy is then in the process of asking Emily to do something again when he is interrupted by the table moving towards Ian.
Two series of three distinct knocks are heard and the table appears to be vibrating. Felt by all team members. Alex tries to film the table vibrating. The camera will not stay in focus when pointing at the table. The table moves again.
Billy asks the gentleman spirit who is standing at the door at the far end of the room to make his presence known to all the team. BillyD is seeing the man with what he describes as "cat eyes" Sean confirms this.
Jim feels a presence down his right hand side. Alex sees a shadow pass by Jim and go down the left hand side of the table. There is a spirit trying to come through Billy.

There is a strong draught going all around the table and is hitting Billy full in the face. Jim says that for a little while he has had the feeling some presence is trying to knock his torch over. The torch is sitting end up on the table in front of Jim. This is immediately confirmed by Minnie and Paul, who say they’ve been feeling this for 10 minutes or more.
Joanne reports that it feels like Billy is being pulled away from her hand and it is really cold. The man coming through Billy is telling him that he wants to be in control of the séance. His name is Alexander Williams. He is an elderly man and is not very nice. He tells Billy he died of throat cancer. He is standing laughing at us.
Billy asks Alexander to give the rest of the group a sign. He tells Billy he is going to cut Billy’s face open. Alexander touches the side of Billy’s face. He tells Billy he is going to cause a draught between Ian and Wilma.

Alexander is trying really hard to do something all the team can see or hear. Sean feels a presence coming very close to him. It is like when he does transfiguration. Billy asks Alex to film Sean from the other side of the table. As Alex is moving around the table, Jim sees a flash of light go across the ceiling. Sean’s face is changing.
His face appears to be swollen and his features changing. This lasts for a few seconds then Sean’s face goes back to normal. Team members report a drop in temperature again.
Alex says there is an energy going around the table. It is hitting his elbow from the left every few seconds. Wilma reports a draught on the back of her neck. BillyD reports some presence behind Tracey keeps looking at them and is quite scary. Billy sees the spirit of a man walking behind Paul and Ian. Sean is physically shaking with the cold. Billy asks Alexander to knock the table. Alexander makes a noise in the corner of the room.

Billy picks up the spirit of a man called Eric who tells Billy he worked here and spent most of his time with his "hands down bloody toilets." Jim hears two big bangs on the floor behind him. Billy feels there was major problems with the plumbing here at one stage. Eric tells Billy he was a general dogsbody and his main job here was to stick his hand down toilets and clean them.
BillyD gets a severe pain in the chest and has to leave the room. Christine and Kirsty try to go out of the room to check on BillyD but after running away from the door they report that whatever spirit is there, it will not let them open the door. Billy orders spirit to let them open the door. Alex then goes to check on BillyD. The pain eases as soon as BillyD is out of the room. Back in the room, Billy asks if there is a room seventeen. Eric is telling him that room seventeen is where most of the plumbing problems were. There is nothing else happening so the séance is closed and we go for a break. The team take a well-earned break and return to the base room.

After the break we go to the lounge bar.

 

This is a room with a medium sized bar and comfortable seating. I would have been used by guests of the hotel as a place to relax and have a drink. Alex tries a short pendulum experiment. Once the team were satisfied which way spirit was going to move the pendulum for yes or no answers, Alex invites them to ask a question. The question must be something to which Alex cannot possibly know the answer. Tracey asks a series of three questions. Three answers are given by spirit. After the third answer, Tracey confirms the answers are correct. Billy sees a blue ball of light in front of the speaker on the wall at the right hand side of the room. The ball of light covered the whole area of the speaker. Joanne and Christine both see a small light go across the room.
Earlier, on one of the breaks Joanne and Paul both saw light anomalies in this room. Billy is now seeing a horse drawn carriage outside the main door of the hotel Billy sees the hotel door as wider than it is now. Billy gets the name Mary and sees everybody bowing.

Joanne picks up the name Mary and asks if this could be why the housekeeper we came across earlier was rushing about mad. Alex asks if anyone can pick up the specific reason as to why this horse and carriage had suddenly stopped outside the hotel.
Billy sees the street as being "shut down" and hotel guests asked to leave. Billy sees this in the Queen Victoria era. Billy is hearing the name Edward and asks how far Falkland Palace is from here. He feels the carriage was on its way to the palace when it stopped here. Joanne is picking up Mary Queen of Scots. Billy describes the coach as black with a gold crest and the initials VR on it. Queen Victoria did in fact stay here when her coach broke down when she was on her way to Balmoral.
One of her coachman had a relationship with Emily who was a maid here. Emily blamed the coachman for her pregnancy but it was in fact the hotel owner who was responsible. Emily hung herself in the hotel as she could not live with the fact she had brought misery and shame on an innocent man.

Billy did in fact get the route Queen Victoria was taking correct except he saw it in reverse.
The team move to the kitchen. Nothing is sensed so the team move to the dining room.
Billy sees this room as being bigger than it appears now and says the wall should not be here. The room was in fact bigger at one stage. Billy is now seeing a piano sitting in the corner of the room and columns at either side of the fireplace.
Billy is seeing a fancy raised platform sitting near the piano covered in plants. Billy sees the place as being frequented by well to do people and says this was not a place for the ordinary working man. Billy is also seeing two very large ornate gates at the hotel entrance which were made locally and is getting the name Frews.

There is a lot of residual energy here but no spirits are actually present here at this time. Billy picks up on a fire in the laundry. He is picking up on the fact a young child lost his life in the fire. Joanne picks up the name Billy. The date Billy gets for the fire is the late forties. A candle fell and set fire to a sheet. Billy said the boy could not get out of the room because there were locks on the doors. The room Billy is talking about is now a laundry room with one door. This room used to have two doors. Billy could not possibly have known this. Billy is now picking up another fire at the other end of the building, higher up in an attic space. The cause of the fire was a man and a woman in the loft. One of them dropped a cigarette and started the fire. They were both staff members.
The team move into the laundry room. Joanne senses a really depressing feeling in this room. Billy sees the spirit of a man standing next to Paul. The man is very small and he tells Billy is name is Andrew the skunk. Andrew is dressed in horrible tweeds which are just "hanging" from him. He is also wearing a neckerchief. He is telling Billy is occupation was a thief. Andrew tells Billy he lived in Canters field. He tells Billy, "they had it; I didn't; so I took it."

Joanne sees a presence near the wall behind Paul, who is feeling coldness at his left arm. Joanne is now picking up the name "wee Billy." Some unseen presence is touching Billy’s head. Billy’s hair is now standing up on end.
Something is now pushing Billy in the back. Billy has to stop himself from being pushed on to the floor. This is Edward who was a former hotel owner. Billy tells Edward to get lost, which he does.
We then move to room 24. This room is being use a temporary store at the moment. Most members are feeling dizzy in this room. Alex asks any spirit present to move or knock on something. Christine hears something tapping beside the bed. Various members are hearing the bed creak.
Alex puts the light out and asks spirit to show us some lights. Although not noticed at the time, video footage clearly shows an orb like light whiz past Ian’s head. Something touches Christine’s knee and then the back of her leg.
Alex asks spirit to open the wardrobe door behind Wilma. No response. Alex hears a noise coming from the corner where the bed is. Tracey, Joanne and Christine confirm this has been happening for a while. No other activity is being picked up so we decide to end the vigil.

Investigation ended at approx 2.30am.

 

Bills conclusion:- The hotel has a very warm and friendly atmosphere.There are a number of Spirits in visitation, plus a woman and a man who appear to be resident Spirits. There are also at least five resident Spirit children. The more we investigate the hotel, the more new Spirits we are finding.
