West of Scotland organiser Stevie, asked Historic Scotland for permission to investigate this Castle. Permission was given. Stevie asked for a fax confirming permission. He was told a fax was not necessary.
We arrived at the village at approx 6.30 pm. Our Medium Bill and his wife were already there.
The first sign of any problems were when three of our members went into a local shop to ask directions to the castle.
They were told we could not go there as no one is allowed near it. We were also told by a lady in the shop, her son is the local gamekeeper and he would not allow us access to the castle. We were also told her son has a shotgun. The lady also said she worked at the Castle.

The directors of Paranormal Investigation Scotland then entered the premises to ask what was going on.
The lady in question was very nice and had a pleasant attitude. She said there was no problem with us going to the castle, but as her son is the gamekeeper, it is only right he should be informed, as there had been a lot of trouble up at the castle recently. We of course agree entirely with this.
The lady then asked if our Medium could tell her if there is anything " strange" going on in the shop.
We asked our Medium if he would have a walk around the shop, which he did.
He found various "presences" in the shop and the look of astonishment on the faces of the staff was amazing.
The lady tried several times with no success to get her son on the cell phone to inform him we would be at the Castle.
We then asked the lady in question for directions to the Castle. She said she did not know how to get there.
We thought this strange, having earlier said she worked there, but did not push it.
Various customers were asked for directions. All said they did not know and some even said they had never even seen the Castle.

At last, one lady gave us directions to the local golf club where, she said we may get directions to the Castle. We also needed permission from the club to walk around the edge of one of the fairways to get to the location.
When we eventually reached the golf club, we were welcomed and given directions to the Castle.
The Castle was some distance away from where we parked our cars. We had to go through a field, over a gate, around the edge of the golf course and eventually through the gate which led to the Castle.
Just passed this gate, we go over a small bridge which is now covered in grass and wild mushrooms. The bridge crosses what looks like the remains of a moat.
On the bridge, Alex remarks on the pungent smell. All team members notice this. It is like the smell of burning flesh. Fresh burning flesh.

On following a rough path, we come to a small archway. Through this archway is a clearing, so we decide to make that our base. We pitch the tent, have something hot to drink then set out to find the part of the Castle we know is still intact.
Again, following a rough path, we come to the entrance of the main part of the castle which we know is intact.
The doorway is very low. No more than 5ft tall and 3ft across. This leads to a "tunnel" which again is so low,we all have to duck down while entering.
The tunnel leads to a large chamber. Stevie, who organised the investigation, tells us the name of the chamber, which was supposed to be built by the use of magic.
There is a real feeling of many battles having been fought in this hall.
The ELF meter, which measures real electricity is going haywire. We have to ask how this can be, in the middle of a field, in the middle of the woods, deep underground and in a Castle which in it's entire existence has never had electricity.
The other strange thing we noticed right away, is the hall is spotlessly clean. Not even the hint of a spiders web.
Very strange for a unused Castle ruin.

The hall is very warm, but the team are experiencing a "shivery" sensation and what I can only describe as flu like feelings.
Bill feels a pain in his back and says somebody has been stabbed in the back here.
The EMF meter registers a four. Bill picks up the name Roger. He is not pleased we are here and says we should leave.
Alex picks up the name William
Alex informs Roger we are not here to cause him any harm. Roger says he knows this but it would be better if we were to leave. No explanation as to why.
Bill then picks up on a guy named Patrick. Patrick is dressed in rags.
Bill says Richard is Dutch..
Bill picks up a fire in the hall. Alex gets the feeling the reformists used this place.
Somone called Charles makes themselves known to Bill
Billy reports his back is ice cold. The EMF meter around Billy reads three.
A lot of sicknes and illness sensed by Bill.
Alex suddenly says the stone, they are hiding the stone. No further information on what stone.

Alex then says well thats what it is, they are hiding the stone here.
The group have a sickness feeling. Bill says we are getting laughed at by the spirits. Alex agrees.
Roger then tells Bill he was beheaded. When asked by whom, Roger said by several.
Bill informs the team he is picking up a battle in the hall. the year 1689 is important to Roger. No information on why. Bill has a severe pain in his spine.

Bill goes back to the entrance to the hall and says there was a gate here, they broke through and then there was a battle.
Roger interupts Bill and says don't come in here, don't you come in here. It's not your place.
There are strange tapping noises heard at this point. It is actually like someone slapping their thighs. Roger then gives his full name to Bill. Bullock, Roger Bullock. Bill then says there is a child over here. She died here. Not that long ago.
Bill sees a flash of blue light where he saw the young girl. Bill asks if we can go up. There is only the roof, and no other rooms to go up to. Stevie says he does not know what is up above us. We later found out, that directly above is is the spot we chose for our base tent.

Something whispers in the ear of Stevie. Bill hears the words get. Get out.
Bill is now getting pushed back towards the entrance by some unseen presence. Alex hears noises coming from down a narrow stone stairway, which seems to lead further underground.
Alex takes a camera and goes down the steps to take a photo.
Bill is now getting pushed towards the steps. Alex sees a man pushing Bill. He is really pushing Bill hard.
Alex who is known for not taking any nonsense whatsoever from anyone Spirit, or physical, tells the Spirit in no uncertain terms to back off and leave Bill alone. The spirit eventually backs off and Bill feels sick. The team take a short break.
Alex finds the only spot in the hall where there is a hotspot. He says if that is you Roger, just toddle off now. Roger obliges.
Roger now tells Bill I will make you leave the Hall. Alex tells him we will go, when we are ready.
The hall is now crowded with spirits.

The team decide to go down the steps to see where they lead. The steps are very worn and there are a lot of loose stones.
After clambering over a pile of loose stones, we come to a bend in the staircase. Around this bend, are more steps. There are a pile of loose stones which are blocking a safe passage to the bottom of the stairs
We can see the passage at the bottom of the stairs go left and right, although an attempt has been made to block the right hand passage.

Some of the team go back to the Hall. Bill, Ian and Alex stay on the stairway to see if they can pick anything up. Tracey comes back down with the voice recorder. The tapping noise we heard earlier is heard again.
The team upstairs seem to be getting followed around by a blast of cold air.Once more the tapping noise is heard.
On the stairway, we find two monks. One of them by the name of Cornelius is the head of the monks.
He tells us he discovered Roger was involved in the witches coven here and when he confronted him about it, Roger sliced into his stomach with his sword cutting him in two. Cornelius said a lot of children were used and abused by Roger and his gang.
A boy and a girl appear to us, They are dressed in rags, and want to cross over. Bill helps them on their way.
The temperature on the stairway appears to be dropping dramatically. Bill calls for a reading and David brings down the digital thermometer. The reading is 26 degrees. This cannot be as it is so cold we can see our breath.
Ian takes other readings and they are the same.

Suddenly a group of monks is sensed at the bottom of the stairs. They have been trapped here for hundreds of years.
Alex said if they would like their freedom all they have to do is turn to the light and walk into it.
After some gentle persuasion, the monks with the help of Bill. turn and go into the light. Bill then notices one of the monks is still looking at us.
Alex is on the point of asking him to turn and go into the light, when he suddenly vanishes. Bill says one of the other monks came back for him and took him to the light.
The temperature now seems normal. Another reading is taken. The reading is 25 degrees. Strange thing is we can still see our breath.
No other activity is felt on the stairs so the team go back into the main hall.

David looks up and sees someone watching us from the "window"
When we get back upstairs, Roger says to Bill so you think you have done it do you?? when asked done what, there is no reply.
Some of the team hear noises from outside and go to invesigate.
While walking towards the entrance, Bill asks Alex if he can see anyone standing beside Billy. Alex says it looks like a guy wearing a "funny hat"
Bill then says thank you. When Alex asked thanks for what, Bill says he just told the rest of the team he saw a court jester beside Billy.
All of the team are now outside except Bill, Stevie, Tracey and David. Bill picks up on someone called Robert De Brus.
He is interrupted by Ian who comes back inside to inform them, the gamekeeper and the police are outside and want to talk to the organiser.

When they arrived, the police shone their torches right in the faces of the members who were outside. One of them asked Billy, who is disabled and hard of hearing what they were doing here. When Billy did not answer ( as he is entitled) the guy became very abusive and threatened to put Billy in cells all weekend if he did not answer.
The gamekeeper then asked if we had permission to be here. Stevie had asked Historic Scotland if it was alright to investigate here and was told it was provided we did not touch or disturb anything.
The gamekeeper then said it was nothinig to do with Historic Scotland, and they had no authority here.
They said the property owner, who is a famous composer had told him to get us away from the Castle.
After a few words, he then told us Historic Scotland had said no one was to be allowed access to the property due to it being unsafe.

Paranormal Investigation Scotland has to date, had no response either from the owner of the Castle or Historic Scotland as to who or whom decided to deny access.
As we have a reputation for always co-operating with authorities, it was decided that although there are no trespassing laws as such in Scotland, we should end the investigation.
So, Roger was correct, he did make us leave.
We will keep you informed of any response from the owners or Historic Scotland.
